    A power station doesn’t bring much benefit if you can’t run the devices you have in mind. It needs to have the physical connections to plug into, as well as the output power to back them up. The Jackery 2000 v2 can handle a lot of electronics, including fairly large kitchen appliances like a fridge and induction cooktop.

    But it has limits. One is that it does not have any high-amp outputs. If you want to connect to your RV’s shore power input or power a DC fuse box, the Explorer 2000 v2 does not make it easy.

    Let’s look at the DC outputs, such as the USB ports. Whenever possible, you want to use these to maximize battery life. This Jackery keeps the number of DC ports to a minimum with:

    • 1 USB-A port
    • 2 USB-C ports (one 100W; one 30W)
    • 1 12V car charger outlet

    The alternatives from EcoFlow, Bluetti, and Anker include a lot more options. Jackery chose to keep size and weight down by leaving out ports you may not need. But if you do need more connections, this is a serious limitation of the Explorer 2000 v2.

    You can use the Jackery 2000 v2 as a UPS device with

    Some devices require 110V/120V AC power. Each power station uses an inverter to convert the direct current in the battery to alternating current available through the AC outlets. The higher the wattage rating, the more powerful devices you can plug in.

    The Explorer 2000 v2’s 2,400W AC inverter is extremely capable. A 500W full-size fridge barely touches the total power. Even using a 1,500W microwave, electric kettle, or hairdryer will be fine. However, if you want to run a 3,000W air conditioner, you need a heavy-duty power station.

    Another great feature for this power station is the new addition of the UPS function. This is used to provide constant power to a critical device like a computer or server rack. Keep it plugged into a wall outlet for power, then when an outage happens, it will switch to the internal battery within the transfer time. The Jackery 2000 v2 has a <20ms transfer time. There are faster UPS devices but for a power station doubling as a UPS, this is respectable.

    Battery Details: How Long Will It Last?

    There are two aspects you want to know about for any power station. The capacity tells you how long it can power your devices for. And the battery type determines how long you can expect the battery to be useful.

    Like its predecessor, the Explorer 2000 v2 sticks with its namesake 2,000Wh battery (2,042Wh, to be exact). But it has moved from an NMC battery with about 3 years of life to an LiFePO4 battery type with a much longer life. Jackery uses a non-standard 4,000 cycles with at least 70% capacity. Most brands specify 3,000 cycles with at least 80% capacity, so we have standardized this rating based on our analysis.

    That’s more than 8 years of daily use before you see a major degradation in battery capacity. And to back that up, Jackery offers a long 5 year warranty when purchased from the official Jackery website.

    There is a pretty simple way to figure out how long any power station will run your devices. Just take the battery capacity (Wh) and divide by the devices total wattage. Then take off about 20% for expected electrical inefficiencies. The result is a rough estimate of the hours it will run.

    Wh / W x 0.8 = Hours of runtime.

    With the Explorer 2000 v2’s battery capacity of 2,042Wh, you can:

    Charging Speeds: Does It Recharge Quickly?

    The speed of charging any power station is not determine by the power source alone. Internal charge controllers sit within the power station. They send the energy from an external source into the battery. And they set the maximum rate for charging, measured in watts. Higher wattage means faster charging.

    This Jackery power station has adequate charging rates but they aren’t going to blow anyone away:

    The AC charging from a standard wall outlet is the most impressive, fully utilizing a standard wall outlet with up to 15A of power. At 120V, that’s 1,800W.

    The solar charging is another story. Some brands go a little overboard, allowing for much more solar power than most people use. Jackery takes a more practical approach.

    The Jackery 2000 v2 can use up to 400W of solar panels through two inputs. When fully maximized, this can recharge most of the battery in about 6 hours. But getting 6 hours of peak sunlight is not easy. In reality, this is going to be an entire day of sun in ideal conditions. And quite often, that might not even be enough, taking more than 1 day to charge from solar power alone.
