Here are some things to know about this BougeRV chart:

  • System Max: This represents the maximum potential through extra battery units in addition to the power station. We stick to the BougeRV recommended combinations. It’s entirely possible to use these power stations together in other ways though.
  • Battery: This is the amount of energy stored in the internal battery, represented in Watt-hours (Wh). The battery capacity is the most important specs for figuring out how long the power station will run your devices. For example, to run 50W for 10 hours, you need at least 500Wh of battery (50W x 10h = 500Wh). You should also plan on system inefficiencies and some unusable battery capacity (both unavoidable characteristics of any power station).
  • AC Output: An AC inverter is necessary to change the battery’s DC energy into the AC energy available from household outlets. The rating here determines how much energy can flow out at one moment. This is crucial for any device that must run on 110V/120V power, but USB devices and ones designed for car cigarette chargers and other DC sources do not use the inverter outlets.
  • Solar Input: One of the great things about power stations are the charging options. But every power station has limits to what it can accept. The solar charging specs are some of the most important, if you plan on using them. The higher the watts, the more panels you can connect and the faster it will charge. This same input may also be useful for other DC sources, like charging a power station from your car while driving.
  • Battery Chemistry and Cycles: Every BougeRV power station uses a type of lithium battery. But there are different kinds and longevity, density (power:size), and safety vary across the different types. NMC lasts the shortest amount of time, while LiFePO4 is the industry standard with >3,000 cycles. And Semi-Solid State lithium ion is an innovative type that BougeRV uses in one of the smallest and most compact options around.
  • Warranty: We consider warranty coverage to be a critical aspect to any power station. These should last many years, and if any manufacturing defects happen, the brand should stand behind its product. BougeRV’s standard 5 year warranty is one of the best in the industry that other brands match some of the time, but not always. We recommend buying directly from the manufacturer to ensure the best customer service and avoid warranty issues.

BougeRV Power Station Comparison: The Details

We’ve reviewed the most important differences in BougeRV power stations. And provided you with a tool to run your own BougeRV comparisons. In this part, we’re going to walk you through each group of specs for all BougeRV power stations, providing more information that you’ll find anywhere else.

This part will help you understand the differences in the BougeRV options, as well as provide a lot of knowledge to help with your shopping decision. If you want more background info, see our article on How to Understand Power Station Specs.

We’ll cover these BougeRV comparison charts:

    AC Inverter and Charging

Portable power stations and solar panels generate direct current (DC) electricity. But many devices require 110V/120V alternating current (AC) power. The AC inverters inside of most BougeRV power stations bridge this gap by:

    • Converting DC to AC, powering common household devices
    • Allows use of standard wall outlets on the power station

The higher the rating of the AC inverter, the more powerful devices it can run. For example, small chargers usually use 5W to 50W at most, but a home fridge can use around 500W and an air conditioner around 2,000W or more. You must get an inverter with the appropriate AC inverter rating.

Also related to AC power is the AC input. This is how you charge the power station from a standard wall outlet. The higher the wattage, the faster it will charge the power station.

Here are the most important AC specifications to compare BougeRV models:

ProductAC OutputAC Output PeakAC InputAC Recharge Hours (Est.)120V OutletsUPS / EPSBuy Now

Here are a couple things to keep in mind about AC power inverters:

    • AC Output Peak: The regular rating is for continuous use of the AC inverter. But some devices need to receive a surge of power when they first start up. This peak or surge rating for the AC inverter ensures you can cover this startup power supply.
    • AC Input: Faster charging rates come from higher charging watts. But what you want to see is a good ratio between the battery capacity (Watt-hours) and charging rate (watts). If you take the capacity and divided by the watts, then add about 20%, this always gives you a rough idea of how long it takes to charge. For example, if the battery capacity is 1,000Wh and the charging rate is 500W, then it will take a little more than two hours to recharge the battery. Recharging speeds can be intentionally slowed down by power station software to protect the battery.
    • UPS: If you want to use a power station as a constant energy supply that’s plugged into a wall outlet and a critical device, you need to make sure it has the uninterruptable power supply (UPS) function. When there is a power outage, it will quickly switch over to the battery power in the time specified. If the device doesn’t have this rating, using it like this may cause damage to the power station.

    Solar Charging Details

The solar-charging capability of portable power stations is their superpower – no cape required. Knowing your power station’s specs and how many panels you can safely connect is crucial to avoid any shocking surprises. You can use all sorts of solar panels with BougeRV power stations as long as you understand these specs.

Another vital part of keeping your power station charged is knowing how many solar panels you need. Our basic calculator keeps things simple.

Here are the solar input details for BougeRV power stations so you can squeeze every last electron out:

ProductSolar InputSolar Recharge Hours (Est.)Solar Input 1 Volts MinSolar Input 1 Volts MaxSolar Input 1 Amps

    BougeRV JuiceGo 240Wh100W2.9h11V32V10A
    BougeRV 220Wh for Fridge100W2.6h12V28V6A

Here’s a little more info to understand solar charging specs:

    • Solar Input: This is your power station’s solar appetite – the maximum energy it’ll take from solar panels. The higher the watts, the more panels you can connect, and the faster your battery gets full.
    • Input Volts: The golden rule of solar inputs is to NEVER exceed the maximum voltage. This will be mostly based on the panels’ Voc rating (maximum open circuit voltage). But temperature also causes voltage to rise and series connections add up voltage between panels.
    • Input Amps: Unlike voltage, slightly exceeding the maximum current is usually okay. What you want to see is the volts x amps equal to the maximum watts. But the power station won’t accept any current over its max rating (in amps). Going over this can help maximize all-day charging, especially in low-light conditions.
    • Adapters: BougeRV power stations can use various solar panels. And they usually come with the adapter to do so. This takes the MC4 connector that’s on most solar panels, including BougeRV’s 200W portable solar panel, and changes it to the input on the power station (Anderson port or another DC connector). You can also get other solar cables and connectors from BougeRV, which we highly recommend (they’re often at the top of our lists, even when using other power station brands). This MC4 extension cable is great for using the panels away from the power station.

    Weight and Dimensions

The “portable” in portable power stations can vary bigtime. While you can move around some of the heavy-duty power stations, it can be a two-person job or a dolly.

BougeRV makes sure to keep things light. The largest BougeRV unit uses a different battery type than most power stations to provide this excellent weight and size for the battery size. Semi-solid state technology is pushing the edge of the industry forward.

Most of the BougeRV power stations have a sufficient lineup of connections for your devices. The one thing we’d like to see from this brand would be a high-amp DC output, like a 30-amp Anderson port. Without this, using these to power a DC fuse box is a major challenge. We also like that there is one model with a wireless charging pad. Bluetti power stations are one of the only other brands that offer this.
