EcoFlow New Releases: Delta 3, River 3, & More

EcoFlow New Releases: Delta 3, River 3, RAPID Power Bank, and Power Kit

We keep our ears to the ground to bring you the best power station information. And there’s a big rumble coming your way. EcoFlow has announced it will soon release an entire set of new products. This includes multiple all-new Delta 3 Series power stations and River 3 Series power stations, updated versions of the existing (and very popular) Delta and River Series products.

But EcoFlow isn’t holding anything back. The portable power titan has also unveiled its entirely new EcoFlow RAPID Magnetic Power Bank, a small portable charger for phones, tablets, and laptops. And it’s updating the EcoFlow Power Kits that are designed to be installed in an RV or campervan.

That’s a lot to take in. While the details aren’t fully available, we’ll walk you through this EcoFlow new product announcement and compare it to existing products.

The new EcoFlow Delta 3 and Delta 3 Plus Power Stations

EcoFlow Delta 3 Series

In some ways, EcoFlow already blew the lid off this release. The EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 has been on sale since June. And at the time, many were confused about the “3” in the model name since there isn’t technically a Delta Pro 2.

Now it’s all coming together. The Delta 3 Series is EcoFlow’s next-generation design. And the EcoFlow brand is adding to Delta 3 units to its large power station lineup.

This September 3 announcement let us know that we will see at least two other Delta 3 units:

  • EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus: 1,024Wh capacity, 1,800W AC output, 10ms UPS, 1,500W AC charging & 1,000W solar charging; Arrives September 10.
  • EcoFlow Delta 3: Identical but with 500W solar charging; Coming Soon.

The only difference between the two that we have confirmed so far is that the Delta 3 Plus has double the solar charging rate.

Confirmed Updated Features

If compare the EcoFlow specs across the existing models, you’ll see that the 1,024Wh capacity and 1,800W AC output is the same capacity as the existing Delta 2. It’s also not as big or powerful as the Delta 2 Max.

Want to have a better understanding of these numbers? Check out How to Understand Power Station Specs.

That means these two Delta 3 models are (unsurprisingly) almost a direct replacement for the current Delta 2. There are still larger models and the entire River series is smaller.

Here are the major changes that this change from 2 Series to 3 Series brings:

  • X-Boost AC inverter power way up and AC charging faster
  • Double solar charging rate (for the Delta 3 Plus only)
  • Must faster UPS switchover time
  • LiFePO4 battery life increase
Details for the new EcoFlow Delta 3 Series Power Stations

That extra 300W of AC charging speed means you can charge this 1kWh battery in less than an hour from a wall outlet. The 1,000W solar charging for the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus can charge the power station in less than an hour and a half.

Yet perhaps the most important update is the uninterruptable power supply (UPS) change. This is the time it takes for the power station to switch from external power from a wall outlet to internal battery power. The new EcoFlow Delta 3 Series includes <10ms UPS switchover time, a major improvement from the <30ms EPS of the past models. This beats out basically any other power station brand, changing the landscape of brutal competitions like EcoFlow vs. Bluetti. Some designers at Jackery might be blowing a gasket right now as their new releases like the Explorer 1000 v2 only have 20ms.

In practical terms, this means that your computer, server rack, TV, routers, and other essential electronics will have a much better chance at avoiding a reboot when power goes out. And for some people, this can very well be worth the price of an upgrade. (Did you know EcoFlow has a trade-in program?)

And last, but certainly not least, the battery life is going up to >4,000 cycles with at least 80% capacity remaining. That’s an extra 1,000 cycles of battery life and now well over 10 years of daily use. The Delta 3 Series is making sure your money goes to work as hard as you do.

We don’t know a lot of the details yet (such as modular battery expansion figures), but for those we do, here are the EcoFlow Delta 3 Series specs and how they compare to the existing products (ordered by battery capacity):

EcoFlow River 3 Series

The EcoFlow River power stations are like the Delta’s little sibling. And this introduction of the new River 3 Series is like watching that little one really grow into itself.

EcoFlow has framed this release as three new power stations, the River 3, the River 3 Plus, and the River 3 Max. But it’s actually just two. Or four. Depends on how you look at it.

Here’s the breakdown of the new EcoFlow River 3 Series:

  • EcoFlow River 3: 245Wh battery capacity, 300W AC output, <20ms UPS; Arrives September 10.
  • EcoFlow River 3 Plus: 286Wh battery capacity, 600W AC output, <10ms UPS; Coming Soon.

Compared to the EcoFlow list, the River 3 Max is missing. That’s because it’s actually the River 3 Plus paired with an extra battery (based on info available to us). So it’s not really a different power station.

There’s actually two different River 3 Series extra battery units. Both are shown to work with the River 3 Plus only.

  • EcoFlow Extra Battery EB300: 286Wh capacity
  • EcoFlow Extra Battery EB600: 572Wh capacity

This means that the River 3 has a 245Wh battery, but the River 3 Plus has 286Wh inside and can go up to 858Wh by using the EB600 Extra Battery.

We have completed our full review of the RIVER 3, which is available now. And you can see how it lines up against top options from other brands:

Compared to River 2

That’s a lot of specs to look at. Let’s put them into perspective by comparing them to the existing EcoFlow River 2 lineup. Right now, there are three River 2 power stations. They all have different internal battery capacities and AC outputs. Trying to figure out which one meets your needs can be quite challenging.

What EcoFlow appears to be doing is to consolidate this into just two options.

The EcoFlow River 3 is the smallest EcoFlow, by far. It is 30% smaller than existing options. It keeps things compact by using a small 300W inverter and 245Wh battery. But it’s still improving the UPS time to <20ms from the current <30ms of all River 2 models.

The River 3 Plus is still a compact power station. But it’s a touch more robust. The biggest difference is that the 3 Plus has a 600W inverter. So if you know that the 300W of the smaller unit isn’t enough, then you can reach for the 3 Plus right away. It also chops down the UPS time to just 10ms or less. Once again, one of the best choices you can find and very likely to keep your critical devices running through power outages.

And it makes sense that this unit with the more powerful inverter also gets more battery capacity.

These new EcoFlow Extra Battery units are useful to add more power to the 3 Plus. But they also have a USB-C port so you can use them directly with compatible devices. This adds tons of flexibility. You can use them with or without the 3 Plus power station.
